Nothing promotes confidence in reasoned, measured foreign policy more than a public intellectual with a Ph.D. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. A man whose name should be synonymous with bad premises and bureaucratic menacing assures us that the usual approach to the pointless slaughter of Arab hillbillies will be forsaken.
Claiming that there is not enough to destroy and emphasizing the importance of deceiving the victims, Gen. Petraeus insists that, "...you also need to be building, and to develop, and to assist, and to help and to partner."
That's right. It is not enough to maim, conquer and kill. We must hound them to death by sending 25 year old human rights volunteers padding their resumes for non-profit dronery and social workers to ensure the proper amount of suffering under U.S. occupation.
Meanwhile, the God King ignores wiser counsel.
Even for the seven people left who still believe the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan was a good idea, one must admit that these endless reruns, reassessments and revisionist histories (or at least the mind bending implication that Afghanistan invaded the U.S. which is implicit in the unstated reasons for why the hell are we there in the first place) make the perfect case against the welfare/warfare state.
For those of you who still insist, don't fret. You have an eternity to prove me wrong.
